Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Since the age of 6 Emma knew she would like to become an actress and for a number of years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre academy where she studied the art of acting and dancing. By the age of ten she was performing and taking the role of lead in a number of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film remake from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via an Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after the eight auditions that she'd been selected for the roles. They cast her alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone made in 2001. The film broke all records on first-day and weekend revenues, and it also became one of the top 2001 films. Reviewers praised the film, as did the performance of three acclaimed young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's portrayal "amazing". Then Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film winning The Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in a Feature Film.
